Reconnecting with Mission.

Dec 2019

As funding streams continue to tighten for most charities, executives and boards are being forced to focus increasingly on the financials: to become more business-like in decisions, often more commercial in outlook, and increasingly to diversify into trading.

But how do we ensure we retain the primacy of our core purpose? How do we balance beneficiaries against budgets? How do we keep an unwavering focus on mission while being increasingly mindful of the money?

To share experiences, insights and solutions to this increasingly important balancing act, I am hosting a complimentary breakfast seminar, exclusively for charity CEOs, on Thursday the 5th December 2019. This session will provide a unique opportunity for facilitated, in-depth, open and honest discussion with a high-level group of peers, supported with straight-forward frameworks and successful examples.

My guest speaker will be James Blake, CEO of YHA, who will share his insights from YHA’s journey, from mission to money and back again. The seminar will begin at 8:30am in the St Pancras area of London and will finish at 10:30am. Breakfast will be available in the room from 8am to give time to meet and network with your peers.

Together we will explore:

  • Proven ways to improve financial performance
  • The challenges of maintaining mission during turnaround
  • How to re-energise purpose without compromising sustainability
  • Engaging change with staff, trustees and external stakeholders
