Martyn Drake is a speaker, writer and a trusted advisor to a broad range of businesses and non-profits. His expertise spans strategy, leadership, growth, change, sales, profitability and negotiation.
Martyn founded Binley Drake Consulting with one objective:
To help ambitious leaders improve the performance of their organisation.
Since founding his consultancy at the start of 2009, Martyn has advised organisations ranging from small family businesses right up to some of the world's most iconic brands. His client list includes global household names like Weight Watchers and Walgreen Boots Alliance; life-saving non-profits like the NHS and the National Autistic Society; mid-sized manufacturers like Alstons and Advance Group, and ambitious, fast-moving entrepreneurs like King of Shaves and Wingman.
He has helped them to raise their sights; to set and achieve more ambitious goals. He has guided them through transformational change and helped them focus on those few things most critical to their success. He has helped them to develop their people and their organisation, and to dramatically improve their sales and profits through developing more collaborative, productive and profitable relationships with customers, suppliers and business partners.
Prior to consulting, Martyn held senior roles at large blue-chips including The Boots Company, Punch Taverns and The Spirit Group. At the former, he spent time in Product Development and Corporate Strategy, before managing two of Boots’ largest retail categories and leading strategic change programmes that delivered over £100m of cost savings.
Later, as Director of Strategy at the Spirit Group, he oversaw the £1.8bn integration of the group into Punch Taverns Plc before taking over the reins as Director of Product for the estate’s 700 managed pubs.
Martyn lives with his wife, two children and two cats in Nottinghamshire. The recent addition of a puppy to the household means that Martyn is likely to slip from 6th to 7th in "the most influential member of the household" ranking for this year. He is desperately trying to talk them out of getting chickens.
